Miley Ray Cyrus the American actress-singer-song writer hit the headlines with her role as Hannah Montana in the Disney Channel series of the same name. Her first album 'Meet Miley Cyrus' was released in June 2007 and the second album 'Breakout' in July 2008. Both the albums topped the Billboard 200.
Miley Cyrus, who is of partly Cherokee origin, was born in 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee, to parents Leticia "Tish" and Barry Ray Cyrus who was a country singer. Miley has five siblings, two of who are also in the music field. Trace Cyrus is both a guitarist and a singer, while Brandi Cyrus plays the guitar. Miley also has an older half brother Christopher Cody other than a younger brother and sister. Her paternal grandfather is a politician in the Democratic Party.
When she was born her parents named her Destiny Hope hoping that one day she would become famous, but she was called Smiley because she always had a lovely smile on her face. This was what was later shortened to 'Miley'.
During her school days in Heritage Middle School, Miley was a Cheer leader. She is now attending school in Options for the Youth Charter Schools. Due to lack of time she studies with the assistance of a teacher while she is on the sets of her TV shows.
